2011 is turning out to be good year for Britain's favourite singer Joe McElderry, whose brand new album ‘Classic’ stormed the UK Album Charts by entering at No.2. After his triumphant win on ITV1's Popstar to Operastar earlier in the year – on which he received 80% of the votes in the final – Joe went straight into the studio to record ‘Classic’, a selection of timeless songs, including his two winning TV tracks.
Joe McElderry rose to fame when he won the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009, which cemented his place in the heart of the British public. It has been a rollercoaster ride since then, with a No.1 single and a No.3 album along the way. Joe is thrilled that this new album has taken him even higher than before in the album charts.
The 20-year-old singer, from the small coastal town of South Shields, has just announced a nationwide tour, from 8th to 27th November, when he will sing songs from ‘Classic’, amongst other favourites, to adoring fans filling no less than 16 of Britain’s finest concert halls.
Joe’s consistently captivating live TV performances have attracted a whole new audience to the classical crossover genre, as well as taking his loyal fans with him.
At the time of recording Joe said “I hope people join me on my musical journey". And indeed they have.
