Troye Sivan: Bloom

Dance

After a long wait, we're finally getting closer to the release of Troye Sivan's second studio album. The Australian actor-turned-YouTuber-turned-pop artist will drop Bloom on August 31st and will follow it up with a world tour.

I don’t want people to be a fan of me from one song. I want them to be a fan of my sensibility,” – Troye Sivan.

Since the start of 2018, Sivan has released five songs from Bloom, “My My My,” “The Good Side,” “Bloom,” “Dance to This,” and “Animal.” Each song has the characteristic danceability of modern pop music while overtly and prominently exploring themes of queerness and sexuality. Sivan falls among the ranks of artists like Hayley Kiyoko, MNEK, and Kehlani in a new wave of artists who are revolutionising the way queer identities are represented in mainstream music.

It isn’t fair, though, to file Sivan and his contemporaries under a category of LGBTQ+ music. His sound is appealing to wide audiences and impressive on its own, proving that a kid from the internet can seamlessly transition to a bona fide, chart-topping musician.

The singles from the album have generated critical acclaim and we can expect nothing less of the yet to be heard five tracks. Sivan will promote Bloom on a North American beginning in September. No dates have been announced for Ireland yet, but keep an eye out. His will be a show to see.
