Recently we were blessed with the arrival of <\/span>Unreal Unearth<\/span><\/i>, Hozier\u2019s long-awaited third full-length studio album.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The album <\/span>was released on August 18th<\/span><\/a>, and was heralded by the release of four singles.<\/span><\/p>\n

These singles, coupled with a recent round of interviews and press, gave us some insight into what to expect from <\/span>Unreal Unearth.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Born Andrew John Hozier-Byrne in County Wicklow, Ireland, Hozier’s musical journey began at a young age. Influenced by blues, soul, and gospel music, he honed his craft and developed a distinct sound that defied easy categorization. However, it was in 2013 when Hozier’s breakout single, \u2018Take Me to Church\u2019, took the world by storm and catapulted him into the limelight. His sophomore album, <\/span>Wasteland, Baby!<\/span><\/i> showcased a maturation of his sound while still staying true to his folk roots.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"copy","copy":"

In a recent interview on the Zach Shang Show, Hozier shed some light on some of the personnel involved in, and themes underlying, <\/span>Unreal Unearth<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Producer Daniel Tannenbaum, also known as Bekon, worked extensively on the album – already credited on \u2018All Things End\u2019 and \u2018Eat Your Young\u2019. Bekon is a veteran American producer and songwriter, perhaps most well-known for his work on Kendrick Lamar\u2019s seminal LP <\/span>DAMN<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One evident result of this collaboration is Hozier allowing more musicians into the songwriting process, with nine writers having been credited as writers on \u2018Eat Your Young\u2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the same interview, Hozier also shed some light on the themes of <\/span>Unreal Unearth, <\/span><\/i>namely the influence of the pandemic years on his mindstate and creative outlook, and the overt reference to Dante\u2019s Inferno on \u2018Francesca\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"copy","copy":"

Interestingly, Hozier cited \u2018Eat Your Young\u2019 as having an unreliable narrator during his interview on the Zach Shang Show.
