Cork-born, London-based Lyra<\/strong> has been electrifying the Irish music scene in the last few years. Her style is a unique blend of traditional Celtic influence, haunting vocals, honesty, and electronic beats. She has been labeled \u201cBeyonc\u00e9 with a Cork accent<\/strong>\u201d, with influences ranging from Enya to Kate Bush.<\/p>\n

We caught up with Lyra ahead of her Cyprus Avenue<\/strong>, and Grand Social gigs<\/strong> to chat about her single \u2018Falling<\/strong>\u2019 which was released earlier this year. It was recently followed up with \u2018Never Let Go<\/strong>\u2019 so we decided to ask what they mean to her, how she finds inspiration and what drives her.<\/p>\n

Following on from tent-jamming sessions at Electric Picnic<\/strong>, and the release of her debut EP W.I.L.D<\/strong>, Lyra has been bubbling away<\/a> on the Irish music scene before the release of \u2018Falling\u2019, culminating in her signing with Polydor records in the UK.<\/p>\n

Having made the move from Cork to London and, eventually, Brighton \u2013 the influence and dynamism of the music scene fuelled her music and her passion, bringing her to the attention of the likes of; 2FM, Spotify, and the BBC. Last year, she featured in the commemorative U2 Joshua Tree \u2013 New Roots<\/strong> anniversary album, helping to raise funds for LauraLynn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lyra\u2019s big break came when RTE used her song \u201cEmerald<\/strong>\u201d for the drama \u2018Striking Out\u2019. What followed was everything from; Made in Chelsea, to Guinness.
