Dubbed the \u201ca young woman of a new Ireland\u201d by the Irish Independent, 21-year-old Sib\u00e8al N\u00ed Chasaide is no stranger to performance. Growing up in the Rath Cairn Gaeltacht, County Meath, a community that places music at the centre of their culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout her formative years, N\u00ed Chasaide was immersed in the sean-n\u00f3s style of singing\u2013a centuries-old, uniquely Irish tradition and she brings this into a contemporary musical space. She first rose to the public eye in 2016 during the 1916 commemoration ceremonies, when she performed Patrick Pearse\u2019s \u201cMise \u00c9ire\u201d on RT\u00c9 ONE. As a young woman who grew up in an ancient tradition while also listening to contemporary artists (Ellie Goulding and Kacey Musgraves are favourites), N\u00ed Chasaide has carved a place for herself, seamlessly blending old and new in a way that has not been done before.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her major influence, however, is Ireland.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIreland is so full of mystery and legends and so full of magic,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd that\u2019s hopefully what my music can convey\u201d Sib\u00e9al says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her self-titled debut album dropped this summer, and it currently reigns position six in the Irish Album Charts.
