Boundaries\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lead singer Matty Healy is one of the most interesting frontmans in popular music, his actions speaking much louder than his colourful tattoos and hairstyles: at a recent show in Dubai, Healy leans forward to kiss a boy in the crowd to violate the country\u2019s current homophobic laws.\u00a0 Message heard, loud and clear!\u00a0 Between kissing boys, girls, and whatever gender you identify with, and most recently speaking out against climate change, The 1975\u2019s music is on a mission to change the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The four band members met in Wilmslow High School, Cheshire<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Matty Healy, guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel met in Wilmslow High School, Cheshire, where they began playing together as teenagers.\u00a0 The 1975\u2019s music was balladry with electric pop and punk elements, describing messy breakups and teenage angst.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The band started their own label\u00a0 and called it Dirty 400;\">When questioned about the band\u2019s peculiar name, Healy says that he had stumbled upon it scribbled within a book at a yard sale. \u00a0 \u201cIt was almost suicidal, and it was dated at the bottom \u20181<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> June The 1975\u2019.\u00a0 The use of the word \u2018The\u2019 really stuck with me.\u00a0 It was 400;\">In September 2013 the band released its self-titled debut, co-produced by Mike Crossey who was known for his work with the Arctic Monkeys and Foals.\u00a0 The album received much criticism for its controversial lyrics.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chocolate is a euphemism for cannabis<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We all know by now that the song \u201cChocolate\u201d is a euphemism for cannabis, the song describing a flee from the police with a stash of \u201cchocolate\u201d in the car.\u00a0 Healy said the song portrayed classic \u201csmall town boredom\u201d, the video of which featured the band riding around in a vintage 1975 Ford Consol.\u00a0 Popular in ski resorts throughout Canada, this song became an immediate after seeing him in a 1975 concert.\u00a0 In the year prior, the singer claimed Matty &amp; Co. to be one of her main influences.\u00a0 \u201c\u2026he\u2019s been influential to me just because of his lack of care.\u201d\u00a0 It has even been suspected that Halsey\u2019s Room 93 EP is about Healy and named after a hotel room that they once occupied together.\u00a0 \u201cColours\u201d, a single
