They have cited the likes of McFly, Good Charlotte, Busted, Damien Rice, AC/DC, Paolo Nutini and Taylor Swift as inspiration to the band’s sound. The pair wrote songs together for the remainder of the year and it wasn’t long before they found Tristan through Facebook as a perfect fit to play drums in the band. With the fourth and final addition of bassist Connor Ball, the pop rock outfit was complete and they started gaining the attention of a wide audience through their YouTube videos throughout the summer of 2012. Perhaps the most popular of these was the band’s cover of One Direction’s Live While We’re Young. By November of the same year, The Vamps had signed to Mercury Records and they spent much of 2013 touring with McFly as well as writing and recording their debut album.

The band released their debut Meet The Vamps in April 2014 and the record went straight into the top ten of the album chart in both the UK and Ireland, peaking at number two. The band enjoyed a steady release of singles from the album including Can We Dance, Wild Heart and Last Night. The album also featured some mega pop star collaborations including Demi Levato on Somebody To You and Shawn Mendes on Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart). After the release of the album, the band embarked on their very own Meet The Vamps headlining tour around the UK. In the same year that Meet The Vamps was released, the band also managed to fit in a cameo appearance in Channel 4’s hit show Hollyoaks!

After gaining attention from audiences all around the globe, it was time for The Vamps to head out on their first world tour at the start of 2015. They enjoyed a run of dates in Australia, the Philippines and Japan. The band followed these shows with a string of dates in both the UK and North America. Despite an extensive run of touring, The Vamps didn’t hang about and released their follow up album titled Wake Up in November 2015. The record entered the UK album chart at number 10 and the band released another selection of infectious pop tracks as singles including Wake Up, Rest Your Love and I Found A Girl which peaked at number two in the UK singles chart. Showing no signs of resting, the band headed out for another world tour to help promote the album at the start of 2016.

The Vamps returned with not one but two follow up albums to Wake Up. They expanded their artistic scope with the release of a split concept album titled Night & Day. The first of these albums, Night, was released in July 2017 and earned the band their first UK number one album. Day followed twelve months later and debuted at number two in the UK album chart. The band then embarked on the Day and Night Tour in 2018 and the 4 Corner Tour in 2019, with the latter consisting of 22 shows across the UK and Ireland, including a stellar performance at Dublin’s 3Arena.

In 2018, guitarist James McVey took some time out from the band in order to participate in I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here in which he came fifth place. The show saw James mingling with the likes of football managing maestro Harry Redknapp, singer-songwriter Fleur East and actor and singer John Barrowmen.

In July 2020, The Vamps announced that they would be releasing their fifth studio album, Cherry Blossom on 16th October 2020. With Cherry Blossom, we see and hear The Vamps stepping into new territory. The album is a strikingly confident effort and demonstrates an evolution within the band as all members were involved with more production elements of the record than previous ones. This level of maturity runs throughout the whole creative process for the band as they enlisted an artist than they discovered on Instagram to create the album artwork. Married In Vegas, Chemicals and Better are all definite examples of this new found sound and indicates that the band are hungry for developing their musical range further.

The Vamps have worked incredibly hard since their formation nearly a full decade ago and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down yet. Their devoted fan base have helped the band reach great heights with sensatiotional streaming achievements and constant sell out shows. So much so, that The Vamps became the first band to sell out the London O2 Arena a mighty five years in a row!

The Vamps are a powerhouse of pop perfection whose music has been streamed over four billion times globally as of October 2020.
