Universal Music Ireland is excited to offer the second and final studio album from XXXTentaction,\u00a0?<\/em><\/a>. The late rapper, who died tragically in a botched robbery earlier this year, was known for his experimental style and unapologetic openness about his personal life and struggles.<\/p>\n

XXXTentaction, or Jahseh Onfroy, was born and raised in South Florida and began to write music and lyrics as a young teenager while incarcerated in a juvenile detention centre. He released his first song in 2013 and quickly gained popularity on SoundCloud,\u00a0a\u00a0trap\u00a0scene that takes elements of\u00a0lo-fi music\u00a0and harsh\u00a0808s. Even before he released his first studio album in 2017, Onfroy had a cult-like following of teenagers and young adults who were drawn to his unmistakable sound.<\/p>\n

XXXTentaction’s final album was released just a few months before his death and it was posthumously certified platinum. Eerily, the music video accompanying the song “SAD!”, released just a month after his death, depicts the rapper attending his own funeral. An older version of himself visits the younger version of himself at his casket, but then both end up in a fight in the middle of the church. So far, it’s clocked nearly 96,000,000 views on Youtube. The very day after his death,\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/a> memorialised the 20-year-old by holding that in his short life, Onfroy has left “a huge musical footprint,” with songs that “almost single-handedly changed the way hip-hop looks and sounds.”<\/p>\n
