Earlier this year, Kennedy released his self-titled EP, which included the incredible single “Power Over Me“. The single went Gold in Canada and was a hit in Ireland and across the world. Over the past few years, Dermot Kennedy has been getting more and more attention in both Ireland and the US, even appearing in GQ, where they described him as “[a] singer with a rich, reverberant voice, [with] epically emotive songwriting skills (think Ed Sheeran, but darker, more melancholy).” He was also featured as one of our Artists to Watch for 2019 and Top 5 Irish Artists right now.
We caught up with the Rathcoole native as he took to the stage of The Olympia to talk about; his inspiration, and what playing home soil means to him following his international success.
