The Ultimate Chill Out Playlist for Summer

Whether you want to wind down after a long day of zoom calls or take some well deserved time out in the garden to sooth your mind, music has the unique ability to change our mood. If you are in need of some good rest and relaxation then we have the perfect playlist to help you chill out.

The Ultimate Chill Out Playlist for Summer

Doin’ Time by Lana Del Rey

American pop singer songwriter Lana Del Rey started out as Lizzy Grant before rebranding herself and launching onto the scene with her hit single Video Games back in 2011. Her distinctive vocals and laid back style make this the perfect chill out single. Covering Sublime’s Doin Time/Summertime single Lana brings her own unique arrangement to the main lyric that we know and love “Summertime an’ the livin is easy”.

Parting Glass by Hozier

We could listen to this stunning rendition over and over again. Hozier surprised us with a rendition of a famous Irish song, the Parting Glass on the Late Late Show at the beginning of this epidemic and we were blown away with the haunting vocals and solo piano. If ever there was a moment to make you proud of the musical talent in Ireland, this is certainly one of those times. If you are in a contemplative mood sit back and enjoy this beautiful ballad.

Circles by Post Malone

Looking forward to your next road-trip? This tune will get you revved up and excited for future adventures. This catchy tune is a chart topper, spending 38 weeks in the top 10. With its acoustic vibes and groovy melody it would certainly feature as an easy listening barbecue track for the summer evenings.

Take Yourself Home by Troye Sivan

The lyrics in this one are perfect to encourage us to get out of the city and take a break during the summer months. The use of percussion shows skilful production. The repeated chorus is easy to dance along to and we find ourselves singing along with the lyrics “I’m tired of the city, scream if you’re with me. If I’m gonna die, let’s die somewhere pretty”.

The song focuses on a sense of place and is very appropriate at the moment with populations around the world struggling in quarantine and remaining isolated from some of the places they would usually call home.

Outnumbered by Dermot Kennedy

After learning to play guitar at the age of 10 it seems like this artist was born to be a star. With over 24 million views on YouTube it is safe to say that this is a popular Dermot Kennedy hit. This cheeky chap from the Emerald Isle knows how to light up a room or a stage. His gritty vocals and strong lyrics force us to sit back and listen to the words. Again this song forces us to be calm and not feel outnumbered. It is a comforting reminder that there are people out there you can rely on.

Put a Little Love on Me by Niall Horan

A beautiful slow song from Niall to soothe our souls. With its soft piano chords we could play this romantic song all day long. Lyrics about heartbreak showing his vulnerable side.

Showcasing his softer side, playing the grand piano for the beginning of this music video, we are forced to concentrate on these beautiful vocals from one of our favourite Irish artists.

When the lights come up and there’s no shadows dancing

I look around as my heart is collapsing

‘Cause you’re the only one I need

To put a little love on me

End This (L.O.V.E.) by Hailee Steinfeld

A laid back pop hit that hits all the right notes for any of us who have been wounded by love. Hailee has a sweet and innocent voice that is easy to listen to. Paired with an impressive beat you get a taste of her pop style.

Summer Girl by Haim

Feel the chilled out vibes in this one with a bob a long base and vintage style. Sing-along to the do-do-do and enjoy the saxophone solos hitting all the right notes. This hit is sure to leave a lasting impression and will no doubt pop up in summer playlists for years to come.

Everything I wanted by Billie Eilish

Bursting onto the pop scene in recent years, Billie Eilish is now one of the most popular artists and this tune cemented her place in the charts. Released in late 2019 it is now a firm favourite on playlists around the world. The strong base and high pitched singing go perfectly. Throughout this tune we hear a dreary echo that transports us to a place of tranquility.

Rome by Dermot Kennedy

Haunting background, easy piano listening and an unforgettable soulful voice, makes this the perfect song for an evening of chilling. A catchy chorus provides everything we need to think positively about the future and reflect on times spent with friends and family. As you listen to this song you will appreciate your memories with loved ones. Dermot has an ability to help us turn off and appreciate the little things in life.

“Do you remember when

Midnight drives when you’d sing

I’d play you songs you were in?

I just want to be there again”.

We hope that the above songs help to clear your mind of clutter and put your worries aside. Now that we have some hits to listen to we can start to feel at ease and look forward to the long summer nights to come. We have put together a perfect Work From Home Playlist for you to enjoy while you work remotely.
