Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo has hit the ground running with the release of her debut single, drivers license. The piano lead pop ballad has taken the industry by storm after being released on 8 January 2021. Rodrigo has hit the number one spot in 19 countries including Ireland, the UK, U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Norway and Sweden. Having currently been streamed more than 230 million times on Spotify alone, drivers license has broken all kinds of records since its release, including becoming the fastest song to reach 100 million streams.

Bissett

Bissett is a DJ and producer from Dublin who has crafted some stellar deep house cuts which are sure to keep the endorphins flowing as we push our way through February. Everyday Night is an infectious, energy fueled instant classic with its rolling bassline, soulful vocals and pulsing house piano stabs. Make sure to turn this one up and you’ll be sure to blow away the winter blues!

Shane Codd

Another rising star from these shores to keep on repeat is Dublin born, Cavan based Shane Codd. The producer released Get Out My Head last year – an uplifting 90’s inspired house track which has been championed here at home and across the water on the BBC Radio 1 Party Anthems show. Get Out My Head features a euphoric vocal chop and and house keys and fuses classic dance elements with crisp modern production.

Bree Runway – ATM

Hackney’s Bree Runway released ATM on 11 January and the stomping dance track, co-written and featuring Missy Elliott, is nothing short of a banger. Bree Runway’s lyrics are sharp and packed full of witty one liners, while the production is slick and a major throwback to early 2000’s productions.

iann dior – Holding On

21 year old iann dior released Holding On at the tail end of 2020 and the Puerto Rican-born Texas raised artist is one to keep an eye on for the year ahead. The track fuses modern hip-hop and rap with more emotionally charged lyrical content to create its own unique flavour within both genres. Holding On manages to be reflective and melancholic while also dishing out a touch of hope and uplifts us with its modern beats.

Zoe Wees

Wees’ latest single Girls Like Us pulls on the heartstrings with its subtle yet stunning piano arrangement and climatic and emotionally charged chorus. Wees’ vocals are stunning throughout and an exciting glimpse into what is to come from the 18 year old artist from Hamburg in Germany.

LILHUDDY – 21st Century Vampire

21st Century Vampire by LILHUDDY rolls power pop-rock into 2021. The internet star has been announced as one of the top ten music influencers by Billboard and the artists first major release is a perfect blend of pop and punk with an epic stadium rock sound.

Billie Eilish & ROSALÍA  – Lo Vas A Olvidar

Lo Vas A Olvidar is a brooding and exquisitely produced collaboration between Billie Eilish and ROSALÍA. The track features the perfect harmony of both artists’ styles and their vocals are front and center for the moody and reflective track. Featuring lyrics in both English and Spanish (ROSALÍA’s native language), Lo Vas A Olvidar is beautifully stripped back and highlights the subtle details in both artists’ work.

Celeste

Celeste released her eagerly anticipated debut album Not Your Muse on 29 January 2021 and the American born-British soul artist has captured the attention of audiences all over the world in the lead up to her first record. Having featured on shows with Jools Holland, Graham Norton, James Corden as well as the The 2020 Royal Variety Performance, Celeste has wowed us with the singles released to date, including the striking and powerful Stop This Flame. Her latest single, Love Is Back, follows suit with the artists vocals and instrumentation bearing a stunning resemblance to the late, great Amy Winehouse.

Nathan Evans

Sea shanties are all the rage in 2021. Former Scottish postman Nathan Evans struck internet fame with his acapella rendition of Wellerman on TikTok over the Christmas period. One month on and Nathan Evans has enjoyed much success with the traditional style folk song and 2021 is shaping up wonderfully for the Airdrie native. The old-timey track is compelling and we can nearly guarantee you’ll be singing along by the end!
