There isn’t really a way to pinpoint a “trend,” as artists are continuously evolving, experimenting, and taking inspiration from each other. That creates an exciting spectrum of new music to feast your ears on.

1. Sam Fender

22-year-old Sam Fender has been steadily on the rise for nearly three years. The 2019 Sound of the Year winner, Fender’s raw sound has been featured in FIFA 19 and has caught the attention of the likes of Elton John, Daughter, and Hozier already. He’s already toured in several countries and continents and it doesn’t look like he’s stopping anytime soon.

2. Dermot Kennedy

From Dublin to the California Desert, there’s no doubt you’ll be seeing Dermot Kennedy make waves in 2019. The Dublin-born singer/songwriter will be headed to the famous Coachella Music & Arts festival this April to play alongside Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, and Tame Impala. Many of his 2019 shows are already sold out, so make sure to keep an eye out for new dates.

3. Lewis Capaldi

Lewis Capaldi’s rise to fame has been quick. His debut single “Bruises” racked up over 13-million plays in a couple of months with fans unable to get enough of his haunting acoustic folk. The young Scottish artist was among the Sound of 2018 nominees and will surely continue to top charts through 2019. Grab tickets to see at The Olympia this month before they sell out!

4. Whenyoung

From Limerick with spunk, Whenyoung boasts a powerful musical identity that’s as innovative as it is interesting. The trio is currently producing some of alternative rock’s coolest new sounds and has garnered plenty of critical acclaim. The first half of 2019 will see the act touring across the UK, so stay tuned for shows near you–they’re definitely a group worth seeing live!

5. Billie Eilish

She may be only 17, but Billie Eilish has already amassed over 194 million Spotify streams since dropping her debut EP in late 2017. The American artist has been racking up awards and festival slots for two years and will perform at Coachella in April this year. Having already collaborated with acts like Khalid and Vince Staples, we can expect amazing things from the teenage pop-electronica star in 2019 and beyond.
