The Rock and Roll icons will be taking over Croke Park on May 18th
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard that The Rolling Stones–yes, The Rolling Stones–are on their way to Ireland for a gig at Croke Park. Dublin is a stop on the Stones–No Filter European Tour which will run through the fall.
And in honour of their first visit to Ireland in over a decade, we’re announcing a release of an unprecedented box set: The Studio Albums Vinyl Collection 1971-2016.
The legendary rock icons are on their seventh decade together as a group and show no signs of slowing down.
“I don’t wanna be singing ‘Satisfaction’ when I’m 40,” a young Mick Jagger once famously said. 34 years past that cut-off date, Jagger is still crooning the hits in screaming stadiums, dancing around stages in colourful suits. He’s still Jagger, Richards is still Richards. The Stones are still the Stones. Fan or not, one can’t help but be humbled by the sheer gravitas of a group whose fans span across four generations.
Since they haven’t been to Ireland since 2007, the country’s youngest Stones fans are just now getting to experience Rolling Stones mania in the lead up to a show. You may have seen the stunning mural if you’ve walked down Aungier Street in the last few days. There have been swaths of teens and young adults sporting Stones tees and gear, as Penneys has rolled out a collection of concert attire. There’s a current of excitement rippling through Dublin right now–It’s only rock and roll, but we like it.
