Longitude 2020
The Lockdown is finally ending, but we’re still living with some restrictions, especially not being able to go to gigs being one of them! This weekend though, we should have been wrapped up in our rain gear, walking through Marley Park and listening to Kendrick Lamar taking to the main stage at Longitude 2020.
The initial line up absolutely blew us away – from Kendrick Lamar, to Aitch and plenty more in between. We thought we’d have a look at some names we’re going to miss and recreate a little bit of that atmosphere. We’ve even got a rainy weekend!
Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick is no stranger to Longitude, he’s played the festival before and absolutely owned that stage. In fact, he was due to play the opening headline slot on Friday night and recreate some of the moments that he brought to Dublin back in 2016. A gig we’re still getting over.
Aitch
Aitch is one of those acts that crops up which completely captivates you and brings you on a journey. Straight from Manchester, this English rapper caught the attention of Stormzy early on and has been making waves ever since. His first-time playing Longitude, we were really looking forward to this one. Polaris, his latest album was released in May to absolute rave reviews, and it’s one of our favourite albums of the year
DaBaby
Rockstar is a song that everybody knows, even if you don’t know it. DaBaby absolutely exploded on TikTok as the stars aligned to create an internet sensation. Rockstar though is more than just a TikTok trend, it’s come at a time when the Black Lives Matter movement has come right to the forefront of our minds, as events in the US remain global news. Rockstar is a hit, there’s no doubt about it, and DaBaby has one incredible stage presence!
Mabel
Mabel is one of our go-to artists for when you just need a good old pop, dance banger. “Don’t Call Me Up” and “Boyfriend” are two of our go-to tracks for when we just need to dance around the house, or in the good old days, the club. She played The Olympia back in January when we could still go out, and we would have loved moving around in the mud to her on stage!
A$AP Rocky
Headlining on Sunday night to bring the weekend to a close would have been the incredible A$AP Rocky. Hailing from New York City, this rap genius has been making huge waves in the US and over here in Europe. There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that he would have closed the festival with one power-house performance.
