New Year, new music! With 2022 well underway, we took a look at some of the hottest hits to soundtrack your year. From some 2021 breakout stars like Ardee, and Wes Nelson – who continue their dominance of the music, and TikTok scene, to brand new artists like Ocean Tisdall, and Sam Tomkins – set on making their mark on this new year.

ArrDee

TikTok sensation ArrDee is certainly one of the undisputed champions of music trends in 2021 with his single ‘Oliver Twist’. He’s back in 2022 with a brand new single ‘Flowers’, and keeps racking up the fans.

Bree Runway

Bree Runway is another viral TikTok sensation. From her feature on Glass Animal’s ‘Space Ghost’ to her single ‘Hot Hot’, which will have us never looking at a Yamaha quite the same way again.

Ocean Tisdall

Wicklow singer-songwriter is the newest signing here at Universal Music Ireland, and to say we’re excited is a slight understatement. His self-released debut single ‘Broke Up With My Best Friend’ is incredible, and we’ve got loads more in the pipeline.

Holly Humberstone

The Walls Are Way Too Thin, Holly’s debut EP was released last year to rave reviews, and with her new single ‘London is Lonely’ the London-based singer-songwriter has started 2022 off on strong footing.

Wes Nelson

From Love Island to Chart sensation, this 23-year old Newcastle lad has been working with some heavy hitters on his songs like Hardy Caprio, all of which have been popping up all over TikTok and Instagram.

Lola Young

You might recognise Lola’s voice from 2021’s John Lewis Christmas advert, this UK-based artist is definitely one to watch for 2022!

Baby Queen

Alt-Pop Baby Queen has been nominated for this year’s BBC Sound of 2022, and having only released her first single in 2020, it’s a huge achievement. London-Based, South African born, her most recent release ‘The Yearbook’ is already setting the industry alight.

Sam Tompkins

Brand new to the music scene, Tompkins latest single ‘Whole’ follows fresh on the heels of ‘Bloodline’ which definitely stirred fans into action and began what we think is a very promising future!

French The Kid

Though hailing from Essex, French did grow up for some of his youth in France, which heavily influenced his musical style and feel. Three singles under his belt, most recently ‘Remedy’, things are going to get big this year!

Finn Askew

Citing acts like Juice WRLD and Lil Peep as influences, his main inspiration comes from his parent’s CD collection of Nirvana, The Smith’s, and The Beach Boys. No albums, yet, but a string of high profile singles, this is one artist we’re looking forward to hearing more from.

Kawala

Camden Band Kawala are no strangers to Ireland, having played here a few times before. A host of singles have brought the band a loyal fan base, and with an album in the works, that fan base is only set to grow.

Olivia Dean

Beginning her singing career with Rudamental, Dean has struck out on her own and was named Amazon Music’s 2021 breakthrough artist of the year, she also recorded a special rendition of Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song, for Amazon last year.

Cian Ducrot

Irish singer-songwriter Ducrot has been getting some seriously high-profile attention. Based in London, he has caught the ear of the US, and recently signed a deal with California-based Interscope records, part of Universal Music.

The Mysterines

Liverpool based band have been catching some attention of late, NME called them “the Liverpool group poised to be nation’s next fearless rock gang”
